BSCI
Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) is the common European platform of retailers, industry and importing companies for monitoring and improving social standards in supplier countries for all consumer goods. The BSCI is based on the labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) and other important international regulations like the UN Charter for Human Rights, as well as on national regulations. This Initiative along with addressing labour law issues, aims at continuously improving the social performance of suppliers, leading to Best Practice like SA8000 certification or equivalents, and thus sustainably enhancing working conditions in factories. Benefits of BSCI : ï· Saves cost and time through prevention of multiple auditing ï· Better working conditions result in a highly motivated workforce and higher quality products. ï· Continual improvement and better Supply Chain Management. ï· Operating costs drop as penalties due to non-compliance and rework reduce and efficiencies increase. ï· Customers, employees, stockholders, regulators and competitors develop sustainable respect for an organization which demonstrates its proactive commitment to a humane workplace. The auditing measures provide better insight into the audit quality and, at minimum, include a regular schedule of Quantum Systems surveillance of BSCI audits and implementation process. Quantum Systems is beginning the process of defining the appropriate requirements for the audit process â although much is similar to SA8000 certification audits, there are differences in the audit protocols due to specific BSCI requirements and the very nature of a gap analysis as compared with a certification audit
